History

Racing Pigeons and history go back a long way together!!! From the earliest times homing pigeons have been used as a way of communicating during times of conflict, and have shown that bravery is installed inside a pigeon as well as speed.

We have used the history of how pigeons was used to teach children about the 1st and 2nd World Wars, by using stories of where pigeons where used on the battle field such as the Battle of the Some and The D - Day landings.

Below you will find a lesson that we use based on how pigeons was used in the 2nd World War and how pigeons and animals was awarded for their bravery. This is also accompanied by an excellent video that has been produced and is available on You Tube on how pigeons were used in War called "BATTLE OF THE BIRDS"
